The sixth annual Wellington Walking Festival will be held over the week of Monday 11 - Sunday 17 September.
This year’s week-long festival comprises 27 walks and events ranging from short strolls to all-day walks. Themed walks include the Tub Boat Canal on Tuesday 12th; Wellington’s Mural Trail on Thursday 14th; Industrial Past of Ercall & Limekiln Woods, Fungus Foray and Springs of the Wrekin Forest all on Friday 15th and the Birds of Dothill Local Nature Reserve (LNR) on Sunday 17th.
There are visits to the Telford Steam Railway at Horsehay, Wappenshall Wharf, Thomas Telford’s Aqueduct at Longdon-on-Tern, Madeley Heritage Trail, Smalley Hill LNR, Windy Ridge & the Bench Walks of Little Wenlock, Attingham Park to see the deer and a history walk through Dothill LNR. There will be an evening talk on the new ‘Main Route’ of the Shropshire Way, a Film Night hosted by the Clifton Project and a walking-themed Quiz Night.
Booking is essential for many of the themed events which, as far as possible, are free although donations would be gratefully received.
