The sixth annual Wellington Walking Festival will be held over the week of Monday 11 - Sunday 17 September.
There will be a full week of FREE walks of all types from short "Fresh Air" strolls, medium walks and all-day rambles...
Themed walks include Geology of OS square SJ60, a visit to Windy Ridge Garden and Little Wenlock Bench Walk, Shrewsbury-Newport Canal System including a tour of Wappenshall Wharf, a tour of Wheat Leasows Solar Farm,
Springs and Watercourses of The Wrekin, Industrial Archeology of the Wrekin Forest, Exploring the Weald Moors, a Fungus Forray in Apley Woods plus 2 "Away with Words" walks for youngsters presented by Myth Stories, a walk around Attingham Park (half-price entrance for non NT members) and much, much more.
There’s also an evening talk by Marie Kreft (author of the Bradt Guide to Shropshire) & a walking-themed Quiz
Booking is essential for many of the themed events which, as far as possible, are free. Walks range from short & easy through to all-day rambles so there is literally something for everyone from 8 years to 80 and beyond.
