The courses will take place on various days between 31st July and 9th August; previous experience is not essential for any of the sessions.
The Coding Fun workshop uses two different programming languages, Scratch and Blocks Cad3D, to create games and animations and build 3D models using coding. This half-day morning session (10am-12.30pm) will be held on 31st July and 2nd, 7th and 8th August.
Although Coding Fun is a stand-alone course, it also links with the Robot Fun workshop, which takes place during the afternoon (1.30-4pm) on the same days. This looks at programming and connecting wirelessly to three different robots, the Ohbot, a robot head that can speak to you; the Chickbot mini-robot and the easy to construct EZ-Robot.
The third workshop in the series, Digital Model Making Fun, is being run on 3rd and 9th August with similar morning and afternoon sessions. It will explore two methods of creating innovative models and circuits using the LEGO® WeDo kit, which makes computer controlled moving models, and littleBits to explore ways of using circuits to control devices with and without wires.
Each workshop allows children to publish their work by uploading videos of their programmes and creations to a blog to view and share.
All the Enginuity Digital Day workshops must be booked in advance and prepaid by calling 01952 433970, email email@example.com or online at ironbridge.org.uk. The workshops are priced at £20 per child; you can book the morning Coding Fun and afternoon Robot Fun on the same day for a 10% reduction bringing the cost down to £36.
Children will be paired to work with a similar-aged partner with a maximum of 12 participants for each workshop. So it’s a great way for youngsters to make new friends as well as learning new skills.
