The Poppy Appeal

Since 1921 the British Legion has organised the Poppy Appeal to raise money to help service personnel, veterans and dependent families.

Originally set up to raise much needed funds to support injured Armed Forces personnel and/or the families who had lost a Father/husband/son during the First World War, today, those much needed funds are used to assist the veterans and families of more modern conflicts e.g. World War II, Aden, Falklands, Iraq, Afghanistan to name but a few.

During the 'Remembrancetide' (This year 22nd October to the 11 November 2015.) The Poppy Appeal asks for volunteers to help raise funds by selling Poppies and other Poppy Appeal items at various locations within the local area of Wellington.

(Other areas run by the local Poppy Appeal Organisers include; Dawley, Oakengates, Whitchurch, Newport, Shrewsbury etc.)
