Fordhall Organic Farm joins the Shropshire Good Food Trail

Fordhall Organic Farm have long prided themselves on providing an array of food which is better for people and the planet and, of course, tasty too! Fordhall’s pasture fed and free- range meats supply both the farm shop and ‘Arthur’s farm Kitchen’ café. Along with sourcing foodstuffs from local and organic suppliers, this reduces food miles incurred by transportation, and creates an array of healthier, tastier and more environmentally friendly food.

 

In recent years, the farm has been working with the ‘Shropshire Good Food Partnership’, an organisation which works to ‘create a local food system good for people, place and planet’. their vision revolves around sustainability in Shropshire, bringing together and promoting local businesses who are passionate about ‘food waste, land stewardship, local growing and nature connection’.



 

An extension of this work is the ‘Shropshire Good Food Trail’, which will be running from 24th June to 9th July, and showcasing ‘Shropshire’s smaller-scale, more regenerative farmers and artisan producers, and the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants that support them’. Fordhall Organic Farm are one such stop on a trail loaded with Shropshire businesses to visit. To celebrate their inclusion, customers and visitors will be able to enjoy two limited- time offerings:

 

•    Pop into Arthur’s Farm Kitchen café, where with every coffee, there will be a free gingerbread biscuit with every coffee purchased. These tasty treats are from a local Market Drayton supplier, cutting down on food miles and supporting local business.

•    While visiting the Farm Shop, look out for our ‘Fordhall Favourites’ free samples. These will be changing throughout the two weeks, so be sure to keep checking back! The samples may be a customer favourite, or a favourite of one of the hard-working staff members to be found in the shop!

Fordhall Community Land Initiative Manager, Charlotte Hollins, said:

‘It is wonderful to be working with partnership who’s values align so closely with ours - they even funded our Summer Solstice event, which featured live music from folk band Litha, folklore tales from professional storyteller Jake Evans, and of course a vibrant and seasonal Fordhall Grazing Table buffet. We were so grateful for the financial boost which enabled us to bring together people to celebrate the season with good company and good food.

‘We hope many will support the trail and pay us a visit as they explore what Shropshire’s local businesses have to offer. Our café and farm shop are reading and waiting to welcome you!’
